GRADUATING CLASS OF 2023

Hello Seniors, Parents and Guardians,

It was brought to my attention that there was a problem viewing one of the documents in my last email, so I figured it would be best to send it out again.  Attached you will find the senior grad letter which provides all information you will need for graduation.  Please use this letter if you need proof for your place of employment for time off.  Also attached are the regulations for St. John's University...please read carefully.

I am planning to distribute the senior package which includes the following items (listed below) on 5/31/23 during the school day.  Students will be brought down by their teacher to pick up their items.  If you have not paid senior dues in full ($230) you will not receive your package.  If you are not sure if you have paid in full, please reach out to me as soon as possible.

-Cap & Gown

-Stole & Tassel

-Honor cords, if applicable

-Graduation tickets

If you have emailed me regarding additional tickets, all requests have been honored.  After all packages have been distributed, I will let the students know to see me if they still need additional tickets.  Please do not purchase tickets from other students.  We still have some more available, and we do not charge for them.

Prom is June 7, 2023, from 7 pm - 12 am.  Students will not be allowed to leave the prom any earlier than 11 pm.  Please ensure that your child is picked up or has transportation waiting for them by 11:45 pm.  Also, please be reminded of the regulations that were explained on the prom consent form and contract.  We expect nothing less than the best behavior during this event. Any deviation from the rules outlined in the consent form and discipline code can be subject to additional disciplinary action after the prom, such as possible removal from the graduation ceremony.  Vapes, alcohol or any controlled substances are prohibited.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I can be reached in the office at (718) 846-6280, ext. 1181 or via email at aortiz31@schools.nyc.gov.

19 days left until prom!  27 days until graduation!!

It has truly been a pleasure working with you all these past four years.

Thank you and have a great day.

Class of 2023,

I hope everyone's new year is off to a great start.  I wanted to reach out to you all to go over a few topics.

Senior apparel:  Many of you have still not picked up your T-shirts and hoodies.  Even if you did not give me your sizes, we ordered additional sizes for you.  Please stop by to pick up your items ASAP.

Senior measurements:  There are still at least 25 students who never submitted their measurements for Cap and Gowns.  Please stop by to submit your measurements so that we can order the correct gown for your height.  The absolute last day to do this is 1/20/23.

Senior dues:  The deadline to submit the full balance of $230 for senior dues is 1/20/23. If you are not sure how much you owe, please stop by room 118 for details.  As a reminder, payments can be made in cash or by check or money order made payable to HS for CTEA.

Prom:  Prom invitations and consent forms have been distributed in your CTE classes. Prom tickets cost $140 per person and can only be purchased with a consent form signed by your parents.   If you do not have a senior CTE class, please come to room 118 to pick up your invitation and consent form.  As I mentioned to you in all your classes, every student, regardless of age, must submit a consent form signed by your parents.  Students and parents alike must sign the form acknowledging the rules, regulations and expectations for this event.  Any student found violating the DOE policies relating to the discipline code may be prohibited from walking at graduation.

Graduation:  Graduation will be at ST. John's University on 6/15/23 from 2 pm - 4 pm.  Each student will receive 6 graduation tickets for their family.  Graduates DO NOT NEED A TICKET.  Students must arrive by 1 pm.  Doors open to family and guests at 1 pm and seating is first come, first served.  Everyone entering the campus will need to pass through metal detectors.  In the end of May or very beginning of June (based on when the items arrive) we will distribute the senior package which consists of the cap and gown, tassel, stole and graduation tickets.  This will be done during the school day.  If you are in doubt of graduating or if you have not paid your senior dues in full, you will not receive your senior package.

If anyone has any questions or concerns, please let me know.  You can stop by my office any time, or you can email me at Aortiz31@schools.nyc.gov.

Thank you and have a great day.

Senior Dues Letter Below

Dear Parents and Students of the Class of 2023,

I’d like to take this opportunity to explain the senior dues – what’s included and what’s not. Some items are optional, but the senior dues are mandatory. Please read this letter carefully.

Payments can be made in cash, by money order or check made payable to: High School for CTEA. In the memo area, please write your child’s first and last name. Payment plans can be worked out, but the parent must call Ms. Ortiz to finalize the payment plan. Ms. Ortiz can be reached at (718) 846-6280, ext. 1181 or via email at aortiz31@schools.nyc.gov. Email is always the easiest method of communication. Feel free to reach out.

****Please note that any student who paid for the Six flags trip on 5/20/22 that was cancelled will have their payment applied directly to their senior dues and will then only need to pay a balance of $130. If you, the parent, do not want the previous payment applied to the senior dues and would like a refund check instead, please email me directly (subject line should say “Six flags refund request” with the following information no later than 6/1/22:

Our school’s website can be accessed here https://www.hsforctea.org. We will continuously update senior news, deadlines, events and notifications there. This should be your first stop whenever you are looking for answers to anything senior related. Parents should expect to receive robo-calls and emails with this information, and students will receive emails through their school email account. Please get in the habit of checking your school emails daily.

Below you will find a detailed list of what is included in the senior dues package. You will also see items that are optional, and must be purchased separately. The items included in the senior dues have been discounted as much as possible, since we have been given a package deal. Every student is required to purchase the senior package. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this, please email Ms. Ortiz.

Senior Dues Package - $230 will include:

The first payment of $130 will be due by Friday, October 21, 2022. You can also send in a full payment of $230, if that works better for you. The final payment will be due by Friday, January 20, 2023. If you need more time to make your payments, please take the time that you need. Students will not be able to purchase a ticket for any of the senior trips or senior prom unless they have been making senior dues payments. Payments can be made at any time; you do not have to wait until the deadlines. Students should see Ms. Ortiz in room 118 to make their payments, Monday through Friday before school from 7:45 am – 8:15 am or after school from 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm.

Optional items NOT included in package:

Below is a link that you can use to schedule your senior portraits. You will need to travel to the studio to take the photo. There are multiple different packages for purchase, but the minimum to sit is $15. This will allow you to take a photo that will be featured in the yearbook, but only includes the yearbook pose and will not be put toward the purchase of any photos. If you pay the $30 fee at your sitting you get multiple poses, and the $30 goes toward whichever packet, digital or physical, that you choose to purchase. The studio will select and send over the photo to be featured in the yearbook.

This fee is paid directly to the studio. Please make sure to schedule your appointment as soon as possible. You need to take your photo no later than October to make sure that it will be featured in the yearbook.

Please use the link below to schedule your appointment: https://www.signupgenius.com/tabs/1357ed805a6caed1-senior

Take your time to peruse the options for packages, and please schedule your appointments as soon as possible because they are filling up quickly. If you have questions, comments, or concern regarding senior photos, please contact Ms. Olfano at Bolfano@schools.nyc.gov.
